Deen Dayal Upadhyay KAUSHAL Kendra (DDUKK)

The Deen Dayal Upadhyay KAUSHAL Kendra (DDUKK) has been established to offer significant opportunities for students who have been deprived of higher education, enabling them to obtain skill-based, job-oriented degrees. This center is the first of its kind in Uttarakhand.

Learning Approach

Instead of traditional classroom-based education, students at Kaushal Kendra gain knowledge through hands-on experience and internships with various industries and business houses.

Renaming and Mission

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has renamed the Knowledge Upgradation for Skilled Human Action and Learning (KAUSHAL) to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Centres for Knowledge Acquisition and Upgradation of Skilled Human Abilities and Livelihood (DDU-KAUSHAL). India requires a high-quality educational system that is affordable, flexible, and relevant to both individuals and societal needs. Currently, there is a mismatch between the demand and supply of skilled workforce, with the economy needing more skilled workers, managers, and entrepreneurs than are produced annually.

Programs Offered

S.B.S. Government PG College currently offers the following programs under DDU Kaushal Kendra:

  • Banking & Finance (50 seats)
  • Desktop Publishing (50 seats)

These job-oriented programs include compulsory theory classes and practical on-the-job training at regular intervals. The programs are funded by the UGC, which has launched a scheme on skills development-based higher education as part of college/university education.

Scheme Structure

The distinctiveness of this scheme lies in its multiple exit points, offering job opportunities at each stage. The course is designed to provide skill education with hands-on experience by explicitly defining job roles and providing necessary skills. The course structure includes four stages over six semesters:

Certificate ProgrammeAfter 6 months
DiplomaAfter 1 year
Advanced DiplomaAfter 2 years
B.VocAfter 3 years
